Teaching and learning are central because of the need for our students to be skilled and educated people in a competitive world. Over the years our students have maintained consistently high levels of academic performance that has allowed them to continue to their chosen career pathways. While our education programme aims to bring each student to the full academic potential, Scoil Bhríde also encourages the development of the unique and individual qualities and talents of each student.
We have team of Learning Support teachers and Special Needs Assistants to scaffold learning in the classroom and provide programmes to support learning.
Scoil Bhríde provides all students with a holistic education allowing them develop their full academic potential through a broad and diverse curriculum. The Junior cycle is a three year programme and at the end of the third year, students sit the Junior Certificate exam. The Senior cycle is a two year or three year programme, depending on whether students participate in the optional, but fantastic, Transition Year (4th Year). During 5th and 6th year, students prepare for the Leaving Certificate examinations which they sit at the end of 6th year
Scoil Bhríde is the only girls’ school in the West of Ireland to offer Computer Science as a Leaving Cert subject. We are proud to add this to our existing STEM subjects.
From September 2020, Scoil Bhríde will be offering the Leaving Cert Applied as an option at senior cycle.
School Improvement Plan
The school is constantly evolving and employs self-evaluation steps to manage change and implement new initiatives in teaching and learning.
The school is well advanced in technology and digital planning. We implement ICT in the classroom to benefit teaching and learning. We have 3 IT classrooms fully equipped to provide IT classes, the Computer Science programme and modules of learning across many subjects.
We use ‘Compass’ to support academic progress and assessment and to communicate with students and parents through the Compass App. Which is available to all parents, students and staff.
